Recently, we got a bit of snow in the Twin Cities. It was rather crazy because it happened suddenly in the morning, and the flakes of snow were absolutely huge. I couldn’t resist getting my son all bundled up, bribing him with a cookie, and gently shoving him out the back door. I asked him nicely to do adorable happy-toddler things like twirling, and laughing. Of course, he ignored my request. At first, he just quietly ate his cookie and looked at the falling snow.
Then I threw a stick into the yard to see if he would go after it. I couldn’t believe it when he did! I tried to make it a game, did some funny jumping around stuff, and then I got these gems…
I was thrilled, even though they were not technically the greatest photos I’ve taken. As a mom, I sometimes have to turn off my photographer brain and allow myself to love photos because they are adorable, even though I missed focus, I don’t love the way he is positioned, and there is motion blur. The strangest thing about this day was just a few hours later, it was warm and sunny like the snow had never happened. I got him back outside to try to get photos in the same spot….well, that didn’t QUITE happen like I wanted it to! But I still love the comparison. Yes, that is another cookie. A mom has to do what she has to do!
He certainly deserves a high five from me. And Minnesota weather deserves a high five for fastest improvement!
Jean RossettI had the pleasure of seeing Sara in action for the afternoon shots….it truly turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon (I also had the displeasure of driving in that snow coming from WI). It’s so fun to see Sara working, it’s evident she genuinely enjoys this art form. The amount of time and effort she puts in to getting the perfect shot demonstrates her dedication and passion for picture taking.
Gail NiechlanskiThe light and shadows on these photos are beautiful. Ashford looks so happy. Looking at them takes me way back to my own childhood and how wonderful it felt to go outside and run around without a care in the world. Thanks for reminding me.
