This couple wanted to celebrate their son’s second birthday with outdoor family portraits, as well as some studio shots. I was very excited to get them outside (I like to say my favorite type of photography is ‘landscape plus people’), but first we had to show off Spencer’s adorable custom tee in the studio. He was a curious one! Peeking behind the backdrop, pointing at the lights, and most of all – asking to eat more of the smarties that I used to weight the balloon. In hindsight, I probably should’ve asked the parents before I put candy in front of their kid!
We did the outdoor photos at one of my favorite locations, Blackhawk Park in Eagan. It is a gorgeous park, and there is always lovely light in the late afternoon. Even though it was a little windy and cold, we got wonderful shots! After we had called it a day, we made one more stop in the trees and got all the adorable shots of Spencer running and laughing. I love when that happens! Like a typical photographer, I’m always looking for just ONE MORE great photo. (I may have also taken a blurry spontaneous photo of Spencer running through the parking lot to his car. I have a problem.)
